I bought a new deco embroidery machine and would like to know if anybody knows how to convert .pes files that I used on a previous machine to .art files. There is very expensive software available for this process, but does anybody know of more affordable software. |

I would suggest you try Explorations software. Explorations Lettering starts at around $249 you can get more information from:

| Thanks Djbear. The Wilcom truesizer software converts my .pes files to .exp files. However the colors go all haywire. You wouldn't happen to know how this problem could be solved??? |

Did you buy the Bernina 440 QE new with the embroidery module? If you did, you should have got some Bernina software with the embroidery module which will do this conversion for you (and direct connect to the 440 as well). You can use Bernina the Bernina ARTlink or Editor Lite (one of which should have come with the embroidery module).
If you didn't get software with the machine then try the Wilcom TrueSizer which can be downloaded from:
http://www.embroiderystartup.com/FreeStuff/WilcomTrueSizer/tabid/203/Default.aspx
This will convert from .PES to .EXP which the 440 will read (although you loose the color information on the machine).
Hope this helps. |

I have just gone through this with Bernina and I have tried almost any and all other software available. Most of the suppliers can read .art files and will copy/write them to a card etc. but none of them will convert to .art. This is a copyright type issue. If you want to convert to .art, you need Bernina software - i.e. Editor Lite I think it is called. It is available through a Bernina dealer. Not sure how much it costs but the Bernina customer support representative assured me that this program will do it. I am getting the software this week so I can convert my files to .art for my Bernina 180E.

| The least expensive software I could find was Editor Lite - and it worked fine. However, due to the lack of support and my inability to find a store that had people knowledgeable enough to help me or whatever their reason was, I sold the machine. I was told I should have kept it, but after almost a year and consistent visits to a Bernina dealer and calls to Bernina offices, and the lack of consistency in solutions, I gave up. I wanted a machine that was user friendly and I found that with little local support (radius of approx 150 miles I tried) I decided it would be easier to simply sell the Bernina and get something that I could get support for. Good luck - I have lots of ART designs that someone can have if they want them. |

| From what I understand the Bernina machine will also read .EXP format designs. I have the software so don't have a problem I jest send any format to my machine and it seems to atomatically coverts it. There a several Yahoo forum for the Bernina and they have a wealth of information. They know tricks that even Bernina doesn't know about. |

I know the frustration of converting designs to the art format. I have the Bernina Designer+ 5 software and will convert your file for a small fee. Be aware that Bernina/art will classify any file format as "C" grade unless it was actually designed as an original .art format. I convert .pes and many others to .art and they sew out just fine.
Let me know if I can help, Vic |

I am interested in having you convert a few designs for me. I have a Bernina 165E and my software will only read/write to ART.
Thank you in advance, |

Hi,
I am new to all of this and have to make a decision on which machine to get to start with, could anyone help with some adivce or experience.
My choices are; Elna 8600 or Bernina Artista 163E (only 19 hrs use but 7 yrs old and no software) or a viking hclass 500....
My start up fund in minimal.
Thank you
