Hello,

Anyone has an idea in what respect these two programs are different ?

I maybe will buy a vector-graphics based software suite. In my area (Geneva) I could get Bernina's much cheaper (V6 is 1900 CHF for schools vs. 2040 Euros for e2). That's about $2140 vs. $2900.

Btw. I plan to use them on an Elna 8300 (almost the same as Janome MC 350) I bought two days ago. I just plan to do embroidery a bit for fun in the context of playing with other CAD/CAM tech for non-professional end-users in education.

I also could do with a chain like Illustrator -> Cheap digitizer -> Cheap Editor, or get a cheap suite like Embird ... but as a principle I like to work with both good and appropriate software and I am familiar with vector graphics.

thanx for any answer - Daniel

Hi Daniel

These two products are different in that Bernina is made for the domestic market while Decostudio is designed for industrial market.

Bernina V6 comes with X4 Corel essentials(limited tools), the software will enable you to switch mode from Embroidery to Graphics.

Decostudio E2 is similar, comes with X5 Corel(full version), will also let you switch modes.

If you are planning to use the software mainly on the Elna, i would recommend Bernina as it has more features and tools.

Decostudio is very basic, text and a few digitizing tools, beginner level for industrial market.

Plus Bernina is cheaper, you would only consider Decostudio if you were planning to use it for industrial machines and export your file as a DST(stitch format) using direct connection.

Thanx a lot !

Exactly what I wanted to know

PS: I am an absolute total beginner, but I like to round up a subject quite systematically. See my profile page in case you wonder how I do that.
