Subject: Is Design Workflow 2006 compatible with Vista?

I know my current service pack install (SP3) is not compatible.  I saw that Wilcom released a Vista service pack but the service pack notes do not clearly state if Workflow is fully compatible.  Is anyone running Workflow with Vista sucessfully?

Brenden,

I followed the Vista installation procedure as found in the Wilcom support site. I got to the section in which you install ES and WF and at the end of the install I get an error/warning message. The message states that the MSDE SQL server app is no longer compatible with Vista. I then click on the check for other solutions button found in the error window and it returns no solutions found. I then just click the cancel button and the install completes. Is this normal? I did not continue with the remaining install steps since I was not expecting that error. Is the new Vista DB server installed later with the service pack 4? Or do I need to download and install a Vista compatible DB server before installing ES with WF?

Hi Pinedsa,

Sorry for my delay!

You are right... Microsoft have stopped the support of MSDE in Vista. More info at http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/previousversions/faq-sql_on_vista.mspx.

You will need MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, which is their free version and replacement for MSDE.

You can download it from http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-au/express/bb410791.aspx.
