Thanks for your reply but I am aware of this suggesstion and is the first thing that I normally do but in this situation it didn't work. \
Subsequent to posting this problem I was able to resolve the issue by:
First going to the compatibility wizard and using Windows 95 as a prior last time usage and then the wizard opened up the program and reinstalled it.
Second:
It still didn't work directly but then I found a old file with a .emb extension and this file opened up fine with truesizer 7.0. (Note that I always save my embroidery files with .dst extensions.) By doing this then the program showed up in the listings for "open with the following programs list when clicking to open an existing .dst file. Then I did do exactly as you suggested and now all the dst files open fine without first having to open the Truesizer 7.0 program.
Note that I used to get and still get the smart heap error message, but I have learned to live with it.
