Has anyone figured out how to get Wilcom ES 7.1 to run on Windows Vista.
I have played around in the compatability mode and got it to launch and work, but not the right resolution. (it took up too much screen to be usable).
I have 20+ years of digitizing on Wilcom and well over 75.000 designs, and have spent a ton on software and upgrades/updates over the years, so I stopped at 7.1. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Version 7.1 will not run on Vista. I'm surprised you got as far as you did.  Vista is a whole new world and a lot of programs will not work on it unless you are able to get a patch (update driver).  That is why allot of software will note if it’s compatible, so if it’s don’t say Visa ready it may not work correctly.

If i got as far as I did, it proves it will run!
Anyone out there that has had more time to play with this or is looking to, i'm open to suggestions... its down to just a resolution setting to make it formatted correctly.

Any geeks out there with free time???

dmc,
Did you get it to run on XP sp2? If so, what's the trick.

It runs fine on XP sp2.
Had some issues early on getting it to load fully, but it is fine and very stable.

If it doesnt see the security dongle (USB type), you will need to go online and get the drivers from the dongle manufacturer. I think mine was a Aladdin brand one, their site has the correct drivers for them.

Hope that helps.

Hi dmc,
Greg K @ Unique Embroidery & Printing helped me with the dongle issue. I still have the parallel one. Evidently when you reload Wilcom you also have to load the "HASP" driver, which I downloaded from the Wilcom site. FYI: HASP4 is for Ver 9 and below. HASP5 is for Vista...
I have one other problem that followed me over from 2000 pro to xp. For some reason when I scroll down the list of esa fonts, I come to all my ttf fonts. At that point the system crashes. Is there a way for Wilcom to only look at the *.esa fonts and not see the ttf fonts?
Thank you and Greg for the help.
