Upgraded computer but did not think about Janome digitizer connection and the new computer does not have serial port to take dig.  So I need to get a USB security dongle.

Person to talk to at Janome away til Monday but I have been looking around to see what my options or alternatives might be. if they say no. Or I have to pay through the nose for a new system...surely it won't come to that!

I am new to this site and I was made aware of it by a very helpful lister off another website.

Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do?

Thanks

MarthaMay

hi
You can check at any computer store, or supplier of components, and ask for a 'serial port adapter' that has a usb connection. Basically you just plug that into your usb port, and attach the serial type dongle at the other end.

You may also want to buy a USB HUB to extend the number of usb inputs you might want to make...eg the computer might have 2 usb slots..you may have 6 usb gadgets..printer..router..external drive etc..so, the hub allows you to plug into one usb port, and slits its capability into 4-8 slots..

just check this link..maybe you can order online.

Hi this is my first time on this site. I just bought a Janome 10001 and the digitizer with it but finding out that there are no computers out there with a parallel port. I talked to a man at Circuit city and he said his mom had an embroidery machine and tried the adapter for the dongle and it would do fine sometimes but other times it would jump around while she was embroidering. Please help me know where I can find a computer that will work.

hi there,

I have 2 Janome machines. Sounds like you need an adapter with a scan blank scan disk which can be connected to your usb port on your pc.

Starwhiz is telling you right way to do it.

If not, then you need to purchase the blank Janome disk which can be bought at the below url.

hope this helped you
