I want to learn how to digitize.  Right now I have a PR600 and Stitch Era Universal.  I've only been using Stitch Era for a week now and have picked up a few.  I plan on trying to learn as much as possible from this free program.  However, when I'm ready to invest in a full digitizing program, i'm not sure which one to buy.

I've looked at Wilcom DecoStudio and although the YT videos make it seem so easy, i'm sure it's too good to be true.  I'm curious, what programs do others use for digitizing?

Thanks in advance for your help.

There is a lot to know before you invest in digitizing software.  I agree that it would be best to outsource your digitizing to start with.  You will quickly see there is a difference between digitizers.  Some are good.  Some are poor.  Don't be fooled by price.  Cheap is not always better.  In fact, cheap digitizing can cost you in quality, run time and aggrevation.

There are several factors I would suggest you consider about software as you make your decision.  1) Stitch quality.  Some software simply produce better stitches than others.  2) Support and training.  3) What are the experienced, award winning digitizers using?  It can be helpful to have the same software so you can receive designs in native format for editing purposes.  4) Can you buy at lower levels and buy up as you gain experience.

Feel free to e-mail me privately if you have any questions.

Thanks Rich.  I see you use Wilcom also.  I don't plan on investing anytime soon.  I'm working my way thru Stitch Era Universal for the time being.  As my husband and I are in the beginning stages of our business, we have time to learn.
