I would like some input on densities. In the Wilcom Program the default auto density is set at .40. It works okay on some fabrics but, there are times when it needs to be more dense. I have found that .30 looks good on most satin and fill stitches. This may be an overkill on some fabrics as I could probably get by with .35. Also the default for minimum stitch length is .40. This causes thread breaks because .40 is narrower than the .75 width of a needle. I have saved my minimum stitch length to 1.0. I have ran 150,000 stitch monograms with no thread breaks at this setting. I would love to hear from you experienced digitizers. Onrie

I almost never go higher (lower) than .36 I figure if this is still not enough to cover your fabric then pump up your underlay...... As for your minimum stitch length... i have not touched mine in a long time... As i figure that it is sometimes necessary to go around tight corners and I dont want to place that limit on my system.... But if I do suspect alot of small stitches are in my design i will run the stitch filter on out-put and then see if anything strange happens to my key-lines and also how many stitches have been removed..... This works well enough for me....

I hardly ever go under .36 - mostly .38. On caps it may be different. I found that placing an edge run helps to keep the thread in place and i get away with higher density. I use Madeira Classic thread for all my work and found that when I digitize for embroiderrers who use something like Marathon, I may have to increase the density to .40, except for black. Underlay is key in keeping the fabric from pushing up.
