Use a medium density tear away backing and lighten the density of the stitches. There is usually not any reason to apply an underlay when setting up to embroidery on leather as the fabric is so stable. Be sure to wrap your hoops so you do not scar the leather when tightening it down. Hope this helps, Al Wilkie CADDCO Designs
