I have started embroidery and sewing for profit. As business picks up I need a 6 needle embroidery machine instead of my sewing/embroidery machine combo. I'm applying for a small business loan. The loan officer says that I need a business
license and a Federal Tax ID. About 10 years ago I did some sewing and reported what I earned under my business name to the IRS but never had either one of these. At what point does it become a neccessity to have one? I would appreciate anyone's opinion.
