I am currently writing out my business plan for starting an in-home business focusing on monograming and personization of childrens and infants apparel, accessories, etc. I have looked EVERYWHERE  on the internet for some informaiton for my industry analysis section and have come up empty. Does anyone have anything they could share? Very much appreciated!

Your best bet may be to study the competition. Find one who seems representative of your business but won't be in competition with you and see if you can get some help. Not everyone will help even if you are not a competitor, but approach enough and someone wil be helpfull.

I found some information on the decorated apparel industry and the 2007 sales figures. I hope this helps.

Thank you for this post and thank you ksw623 for the pdf file. I am new here, and already have found this forum to be very useful. I am currently enrolled in business class to learn how to properly and successfully start my own business, and industry research is key to building my business plan. I also was frustrated with the lack of information I could readily find on the internet, and the embroidery shops I contacted personally were less than willing to share information. Can't say I blame them I guess, but I found they were not willing to talk, even for a research paper.

Thanks again,

Thanx from me, too, for such an invauable source of business analysis. I also have to make my case for business finance for an embroidery business, thhough I am beginning to wonder if a Direct to Garment printing machine may be better.

There's a ton to learn in either industry. Expect to do a lot of research of machines, equipment, inks, thread, materials.....even if you may think DTG is better, there are a lot of issues with that as well. I'd check out t-shirtforums.com and look around on their forums to get a feel for the various issues people have with that.
