Hello

Maybe some Corel gurus can help..Im messing with some  vector outline effects..I attached a V9 corel file..I just did something rough and  simple..but I'll experiment more later..

Is it possible to somehow clip brush effects? Maybe I need to try some other styles..I'll try some in X4 when I get time..I know Corel can do some stunning effects..Im just trying to check out the possibilities for display purposes..Creating effects can add some new possibilities for DTG prints etc..I suppose some other uses are possible too..

I think I figured out how to do what I want..but I'll ive that a shot later..You'll probably get the idea. Oh..the file wouldnt upload..If your're in the yahoo forum you can probably get it there.

bye

Hi Nevi,

I hope I am reading right.. but I assume you refer to the Artistic Media pen and trimming it?

CorelDRAW seems to store brushes and artistic pens are simply lines which means you can't trim them or use any of the shaping tools.

What I found as a neat trick is to convert the artistic pen down to the original vector shapes that created it by using the Break Artistic Media Group Apart (Ctrl-K). This is what I do.

NB: See attached CDR file which has the numbered examples. (Saved in version 9 for those still back on that version)

1. Create a brush or artistic pen line

2. Select the object and select Arrange > Break Artistic Media Group Apart (Ctrl-K)

3. You will note a new line has appeared... that is the original path line and the object vectors are still present. Select that new line and delete it away

4. Draw the shape you want to clip or trim with (your cutter) and click the shaping tool you want to use, Trim, Simply, etc.

5. Delete away the cutter object and you have the new shape you are after.

The only problem is that it is not a brush anymore, but it is clipped.

Another alternative is to insert the brush into a new container using the PowerClip option.

hi
If you look in the Wilcom Yahoogroups file section, I uploaded an example of what I was trying to achieve by adding a kind of stitch effect using the brush strokes, so I was trying to make something simple to apply for a neat edge to the eg. satin edge. Its ok in bigger sizes, but gets wonky when the graphic is smaller. The problem seems to be that unless the brushstroke is really tiny, it cant really have the clipped look at the edge of a satin effect type graphic.

For some reason the file I tried to upload here wouldn't .

On average its possible to create some really funky graffiti style effects using the vector pastes from embroidery files , and that translates to some interesting possibilities for DTG design experiments.
