I've only installed DecoStudio ES 2 weeks ago. Frustration is setting in because when I convert a design from embroidery mode into graphics mode I can not select my design to do any manipulation. I have been using CorelDraw for several years. The design just sits there - can't be selected by clicking, can't be selected using select all objects. The status bar even says to click on object to select but no amount of clicking will select the object for manipulation. Of course this also means that I can't even move the design onto the page. Very frustrating! Anyone know what's going on? Belinda

What program are you trying to edit in? How are you trying to manipulate it? Editing embroidery or editing the graphic? Wouldn't you have to save the embroidery as a graphic from DecoStudio, then open it in CorelDraw in order to edit the graphic?

Hi Belinda.  I'm no expert, but here's my best guess.

While in graphics mode, click the button along the top that says "show embroidery."  I'm going to guess that your embroidery disappears.  It's just a picture - don't freak - nothing is gone - you can turn it back on if you wish.  Same thing is available in Deco, except it says "show graphics."  These help if you're tracing or need the original to refer to for colors, shaping, etc. but they are not able to be manipulated.  They can be turned on, turned off, or deleted.

Go back to embroidery mode.  Select whatever parts (or select all) you want to convert to graphics.  Then convert.  Same thing is true when going from graphics to embroidery.  You must select whatever obects you wish to convert to stitches.

Hefty learning curve.  The dvds and videos help.  Hang in there!  julie

Thanks to you both. It turns out user error. When I converted from embroidery mode to graphics mode I was able to see the design but not click anywhere or select anything. I talked with Lee at Balboa and I was not drawing a box around the embroidery design before converting to graphic. Once I did this it converted perfectly and I was able to select and edit. I know Corel but not DecoStudio. Lots of learning again! Thanks again for your replies. Belinda
