Does anyone know how to EASILY do 2 colored lettering in DS?  I have a customer that just wants a simple block font on the front of team jackets but they want 2 color lettering.  Since these are all different player names the thought of going in and creating contours around letters, converting them to embroidery AND correcting all the stitch angles is not a pleasant prospect.

Also, on a related topic I found a 2 color font for sale that says it is a Wilcom keyboard font.  Can this font (and others like it) be used in DS?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Joe

Hi Joe,

You sure can make two color lettering. There are two ways:

A: Use a true Two Color font like 2 Col Arial Shadow and 2 Col Plain Script. Both of these are available in the 1.5 update which you can get for free by contacting your dealer (just a shipping fee to pay).

B: Secondly you can change the colors of different letters in your font. Simply drag over one letter and choose a new color in the palette. Click ENTER to accept the change. OR place a carrot " ^ " between each letter and it will change for you. IE: "W^I^L^C^O^M" creates "WILCOM" with each letter a different color.

See image...

The fonts you buy should also work so long as the person creating it made it with the correct settings for multi-color (assuming they are selling it they have done this...)

Thanks for the info, I'm still waiting for my upgrade.  Nice to see there are some good fonts coming in the update!  I ended up using a truetype font with an outline instead of a contour and got pretty good results.  I still had to manually change some stitch angles but it wasn't too bad.

I did figure out over the weekend that I could use Wilcom fonts in DS but I just didn't see one that looked good enough to use.  Where did you find the different color for each letter trick?  That is pretty cool!

It was a LONG time ago but it was by mistake. I was doing a logo that actually required a "^" in it. I typed it, generated the lettering, and then thought I found a bug as the color kept changing. A call to support and a reference to the manual found that it was actually a feature. That's what I get for not reading the manual
