I'd like to find some training tools for decostudio

I watched the wilcom online classes and they weren't very useful for what i'm doing.

I make designs for the police and if anyone noticed they're pretty complicated. My job kind of just dropped this in my lap and are expecting results. Any help would be appreciated.....Thanks in advance.

Hello

Designs with the complexity of police badges are not exactly what you want to be trying in a program like Deco, or if you have no real knowledge of digitizing. Its possible if youre digitizing mostly manually..but you'll find extreme difficulty if youre trying to get some kind of 'output in a click'

Police badges usually require strategic changes to the art,and in many cases need to be redrawn with full modifications to be easily digitized...or a skilled digitizer is able to adjust the art onscreen.

If youre creating the actual 'art' then trying for some simplicity can help..

Quite a hot potato to have in your lap..lol. In your situation, I might suggest using an external skilled digitizer, and youre more assured of good results.

bye

Hello
Sorry, I didnt mean to sound disheartening.
You can align yourself with a co that specialises ..for a while, and you can practice in the interim.

What I was meaning, is that it might be unrealistic for your co to expect sudden, productive results from you, because of the nature of the work. If you were designing little butterfies etc..would be much simpler...but unfortunately, youre in the realm of complex police badges.

I think Deco allows you the basic tools to produce your design effectively..if you digitize your art..manually..and you can get good results. You might also have success in automatically converting certain parts of your designs. If you work with a co for a while, you'll have a better idea of runability, layering etc..and you can improve your skills by watching that stitch, or experiment with it within the software. A good way is really to watch designs stitch out,and take note of the backings used, the way the fabric reacts..how colors work etc etc...but, this does take time, and practice.

Try contacting Tom, he may be able to advise you on further classes ..maybe more related to what you need.

Hi Jseaggart,

You can check my new website Soon for some training videos on the DecoStudio @ ES.  I am currently working on it and I'm try to add a new page once a week so I hope to have it done by no later than the end July.

My new web site will have some Tutorial Videos by July the link is www.AdvancedWilcom.com Check it out and let me know what you think and you can always email me if you have any Request.  As for the more complex designs in DecoStudio do the trouble areas with you fusion fill tool (if you don't want turning stitches just hit the space bar on your keyboard) and you may want to try and digitize in sections on an object.
