I have a brother embroidery machine so I use Pes. Have bought a Laptop
using Vista which in not in the Net. When I transfer my patterns from
my XP computer via Flashdrive to my Vista Laptop, the patterns
change to paint or PDF files. Can someone telll me how to change
PDF files to Pes, when they were originally Pes.

PDF to PES.... the only way you can do this is to use auto digitizing, or punch it manually...
From Stitches to graphics (like PDF) is easy. But the other way around needs an embroidery tool or software with that capability.
Are you "Printing" the file which is why they are creating a PDF file instead of remaining a .PES? |

Hello Brendan, Thankyou for your reply. I am using SewIconz which works
well on my XP Computer. I have been transfering these via a Flashdrive
to my Vista Laptop. When they have been transfered they change to PDF
or Paint files. I am assuming that they are not compatible with Vista.

Hi again Lyn,
What version are you using? Version 1.19 and above is Vista compatible.
But not overly sure why it is creating a JPG or PDF when you copy it to your flashdrive... I can suggest emailing the developers on support@sandscomputing.com.
Sorry I can't be of more help!

If the files were originally pes files on your old computer, this sounds like a file association problems with your new computer. Since pes files are specific to the embroidery industry and not " a computer standard file association" it sounds like your your new computer is associating them with the closest match, hence pdf. You need to go into your computer tools and check the file association properties. If you don't know how to do this find a computer guru to help you. Your files don't automatically change "type" from one computer to another. If they were originally pes they are still pes. Your new computer just doesn't know how to handle them. Do you have your pes software installed on your new computer? I'll bet the files won't open in pdf either.
Hope this helps.

I see this is an old post that was never answered by anyone, but in case you are checking back:
.PHP is a file extension used for a scripting program (graphics). For conversions to other file formats see: http://gr2.php.net/tut.php
Any file in this format would need to be digitized in order to be "changed" into a .pes file. In order to do that, you would have to own a software program that does digitizing of graphics. File extensions that are obscure are usually associated with specific programs from a proprietary source. |

I am no expert but it sounds that is a very simple problem here.
As another user posted: " If the files were originally pes files on your old computer, this sounds like a file association problems with your new computer."
If the files transfered were PES files, is just a matter of extension association. Just change the extension and try it.
To change the extension go to your explore window and rename the file changing the .PDF or .PHP to .PES. For example: originalfile.pdf to originalfile.PES
You would be asked if you are sure that you want to change the extension, just say yes. Try the file in your machine. I am sure that if the original file was a PES that used to work, it will work again. |
