I am having problems with my Janome 300E reading the designs on the memory card.  Do you have to do something special other than format the card before you put the JEF file on it.  I bought a  generic flash card but could not get it to work, finally found a scan disk flash card but have not tried it yet.  Need help.

Thanks Liz0220

After formatting a blank card by putting it in the machine first, two directories will be created.  The design/s must be copied into the directory called Embf5.

Also because the 300e has a small memory, it is advisable not  to use a card above 512 mb (a 1gb card is possible to use but very slow to load)  Generic cards are perfectly ok, and the SanDisk (which I think you mean) card is better quality.

Check that the design is the right size to fit the Janome hoops. The machine will not read the design if it is too big.

Hope this helps.

There are several ways - and this is one way:

You should have a USB CF Reader. With the card inserted in the reader, plug in to a USB slot.

On your pc locate the design file (for example fish.jef), right click (brings up menu) select copy.

Then go to My Computer, select the card reader (it will say something like Removable Disk E or F). Double click it to open it. Double click the directory Embf5 to open it, select paste from the Edit menu on the toolbar. The design should then be seen in the Embf5 directory. Remove the card and insert in machine.

Do I need software on my computer in order to use the Janome 300e and in order to download designs onto the CF card please? I just bought a used Janome 300E and have not tried it yet. It did not come with the adaptor, reader or card. I could not find any instructions about how to download in the manual. Also, there was no software with the machine. Should there have been some software supplied - either for the machine itself or for the downloading of designs? How do I do updates on this machine?

No, you don't need any special software to use your Janome 300e. Just copy the designs to the EmbF5 folder as Beebe explained above.

Though it helps to have software that can convert designs to JEF for you, because the machine will only read JEF files from the card. You can download TrueSizer e1.5 software if you haven't already, that'll do it.

Am I missing a step. I have put the cad nto the sewing machine and clicked the things I need to and then waited and waited and waited . Still nothing. What am I missing?

I am new also, and having the same problems. I have a used "new to me" Janome 300E. I can't get the design to open once downloaded. I think I need a book on this for "dummies". I have the SD Flash Card, Adapter and Reader. I am determined to figure this out. I re-formatted my card last night and going to try downloading a design again today to see what happens. I have Customzier 10000 and Monogram Wizard Plus to go with my machine. Can the Customizer 100000 be used to download designs?

It might be because of the size of your SD flash card.    If you are using anything more than a  512 MB card the machine may not be able to handle it as it has a very small memory.  What size are you using?

Hi all,

I was delighted to find this site.  I use Pfaff Creative 4D software and wanted to stitch out my designs on a Janome 350e.  My dealer had difficulty and had to ring Pfaff for help.  They advised using Janome software.  Thanks to your wonderful site I found all I had to do was format my memory stick on the Janome machine, then go to my pc and open the design in 4D software, save as a .jef file onto my memory stick and hey presto!  It works.  I've just telephoned my dealer to give him the tip.

Hello, I have a Janome 300E and I need to purchase the SD flash card. I am having problems finding the smaller cards, such as the 512 MB cards. Please tell me where I can purchase the cards. I realize the SanDisc is probably a better quality card, but at this point I am open to purchasing any brand. Thank you for your assistance. This is my first visit to this site. Thanks again, JDown

Yes the smaller cards are not easy to find. I have found them on Ebay, and via a Google search.

There are some at Amazon UK, here is the link

Need help, too. It appears I MUST have a Customizer 10000 to download. I am simply unable to download any designs even following the discussions in this forum, which have been very helpful. Am I going to have to purchase a Customizer 100000 for my Janome MC 3003?
