Hi, A drawing file is totally different to a stitch file. You will need to get the drawing file digitized in order for the machine to read it.
If you have a Janome machine i would recommend you to purchase Janome software to create and digitize designs or buy them online pre-digitized.

DRAWings is graphics. When you have  s DRAWings file and open it in DRAWings program it will be immediately converted to stitches with proper consideration to stich properties including density, underlay, pull compensation, direction etc, to suit the fabric you choose in DRAWings to stitch out the design. Only DRAWings will convert the DRAWings file to stitches. DRAWings will also save the stitch file to suit any embroidery machine. So if you have DRAWings you almost certainly do not need any other software.

DRAWings should not have  a problem saving directly to any USB stick within any folder as long as the USB stick and the folder are visible from the Windows Explorer. For the Janome 350E I think you need to save to a specific folder. (emb? - check the machine doc)

11 Aug 2011 2:31 PM Alert

I just visited a Janome dealer and asked them to put a JEF file onto a USB stick and into a 350E. They could not do it. Neither could the Janome employee/trainer at a show I attended last week.

This did not make sense so I  confiscated a 350E and had a little play around.

The answer is on page 36 of the manual I read. In an outlined box with a heading it says “NOTE: the MC350E only displays files and folders in the MyDesign folder. The folder is automatically created under the EmbF5 folder (also created automatically, but will not be displayed on the MC350E) when the USB memory is inserted into the MC350E. When saving files from the PC to the USB memory, you need to save the files under the MyDesign folder.”

In three cases I have seen the person saved the files into the EmbF5 folder. When I copied them to the MyDesign folder (which is under EmbF5 in the file tree) there was no problem for the machine to read the file.

I suspect in all cases the user has jumped ahead or maybe not read the manual at all.

best regards, Hugh

Thank you, Hugh, for the info. Long story short, I had a "bad" flash card. I'd been dealing with new computer, new DRAWings software, and a new Janome 300E. I'd ordered the machine and software online. The 300E instruction book (the only book that came with it) doesn't even mention the possibility of using something other than Janome canned designs. I sure have ALOT of new stuff to learn!

I have a Troy Bilt pressure washer that won't start. It has a Briggs and Stratton ... Pretty simple carb. Pull the float bowl off, and clean everything. ...
