How many hours of training/practicing did it take for you to become proficient enough to produce marketable items? Also, do you feel a person can be successful as a home based part-time business or does it need to be full-time to be successful? Thanks! __________________ Ashley

hi
Depending on what you intend marketing, it can be a few months, to a few years to become proficient . If you intend to use collection designs, and edit a bit to produce designs, then learning that takes time in watching various designs sew, and learning how to generally edit or do minor additions like adding lettering etc.
If you intend to get into actual design creation from scrathch, eg corporate logos, or custom created fashion design, or animal niches etc, then it can take some years to become proficient, and takes a lot of dedication and practice. In this instance, you may consider working with a digitizer.

If you're in an area that requires services, and you intend to run your homebased business well, then the workstream will dictate whether you need to be in it fulltime, or parttime. You can be successful as a parttime biz, but that depends on what niche market you intend to focus on.
Running machinery well, also requires a dedicated and knowledgeable operator. The actual machine itself ..commercial or home embroidery machine dictates what kinds of production you will be able to support.

If anyone tells you you'll be up and running in 3 days, its a lie..Like anything in life, becoming successful at something requires dedication, patience, and resolve. Productive embroidery, and all the ins and outs associated is not something to decide on, on a whim. The investments are substantial, and the time demands can be too.
