28 Jan 2009 12:40 AM Alert

Hello everybody

I am just starting out and would like to set up a website for my embroidery designs.

In order to showcase the designs could anyone please advise what program/s will provide a realistic embroidered preview of the final embroidered design.  I intend to group these together as an overview of the set.

I would prefer to be able to showcase my designs without a background (to be able to rotate pics without a border showing), but they must retain their embroidered finish (stitches).

I am in no way associated with this site but I think they have a done a lovely job and wondered what programs may have been used to achieve this - this has many of the elements that wish to achieve.

I appreciate any assistance.

Regards

Lizmcd

Hi Lizmcd,

TrueSizer will enable you to create a "TrueView" as you have shown on the website. You can include ot exclude the background.

Wilcom EmbroideryStudio will also do this, but Wilcom Design Workflow will do it by mass so you can upload a whole collection of designs at once, and not do it one-by-one.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I didn't get back straight away as I have been trying your suggestions.

I am not sure where I am going wrong - the transparent background just makes it go white. When I do a shadow like the example in the website it goes in a big square - it doesn't 'hug' the outline.

Any suggestions?

hi Liz,

Sounds like the image is being saved but not with a transparent background. If you are using TrueSizer then it will create a white background as truesizer doesn't export it transparent. Unchecking "Include background/fabric" wont make it transparent.

So I think you will need to bring your image into a program such as Corel PHOTO-PAINT.

Here are the steps I do:

1. open image in PHOTO-PAINT
2. Select Mask > Color Mask
3. With the eyedropper, pick the color you want to remove (white in the white background for example) > OK.
4. Select Mask > Invert. This will select just the colored parts of the design.
5. CUT the design out (Ctrl-X)
6. Paste the design back in (Ctrl-V)
7. Now the colored part of the design is a floating object so you can apply a drop shadow to it using the shadow tool.

Below is my example. I hope this helps and is what you are looking for!
