Hi,
I'm looking for a way to provide an accurate stich count for a design without sending it to the embroider.
I provide the garments for my customers and out source all production.
I am trying to put together a programe that reads a design and provides an accurate stitch count, therefore providing an accurate price. All to stop the customer having to take longer to order.
Does Truesizer allow this? Has anyone ever seen an online stich counter?
Many thanks

| You can't get an Accurate Stitch Count before a design is digitized. No two digitizers punch the same. The best thing is to go to your digitizer and ask for quote on the stitch count on the job you are about to do. He/she should come close within a 5% to 15% or even 20% depending on the size and detail of the design, and the product it's going can change the stitch count by a percentage (3,000 can be 20% = 3,600 stitches and 50,000 stitches of %10 = 55,000 stitches). |

Thank you for your reply,
This is what i do currently but i want to design an ecommerce system that doesn't require any human intervention.
So why can't you develop an online system?
Thank you

| A online system would not know how you are going to place the stitches and what type of stitches to use (Stitch effect) it would need to know what type of thread you are using and the type if fabric, color and the direction of the weave, the weight and etc... about the fabric, and I could go on, but the main thing is like what I said No two digitizer will digitize the same it may look the same but will not have the same stitches count and it will sew different. I may apply satin stitches with a stitch spacing value of .4mm with an edge run as an underlay and some else may use a satin .38 or Tatami with a length of 5mm and spacing might the same and a different underlay or is was a manual run underlay. It like do you buy the same product as I do? Do you use the same thing as I do? No. we are all Unique and each digitizer and embroidery is unique in there own way. |

Hi Alex, I agree with Greg that each digitizer does the job differently - different fabris etc but you can get a reasonably close estimate with experience. Compare back with similar designs you already have. Type some letters on screen and note the stitch count eg 10 mm Block 2 caps with run underlay will have around 150/ letter (allow less for I's etc) relate columns of stitches to letters Test a block - circle - different shapes, include a tatami underlay and make a note of stitch count 25 mm square (approx 1 in) will have about 1200 stitches Maybe test 10 mm squares so you can relate to the grid on your digitising screen. Over time you will develop the skill to estimate the stitch count. |

Thanks John,
Yes, once you know the setting that is used then there are programs that you can use by filling in the information like a square inch (2.5 CM) of tatami = 1200 stitches and average block letter of 5/8 inch (16mm) = 200 stitches or as John said 10 mm (.39 inch or 3/8inch)=150 stitches then you may get a simple design estimate but if a design has some detail on a fill area make sure you add both the fill area and the detail. A stock design that is layout similar to what you have is a good way to guest this is what I did when I first stated and don't be surprise if you are you are wrong at time.
