HI, I've been using Truesizer for years (version 7).  I have a new hard drive and reinstalled the program.  It works when opening files once the program is open but if I open a .dst file directly Windows XP Pro will not open the file.  A message that says that the file is not a Win 32 application.  I had no problem in the past.  How do I configure it so it opens any dst file without prior opening up truesizer?

Thanks Harvey

hi

Generally, by default..windows will try to open a dst as a text file, so it'll probably open it as text in wordpad or notepad.

I dont have xp..but you can try this:

Right click the dst and check the properties..and look for 'Opens with' or something to that effect relating to the application relating to that file.

When you find that, you can then change that to truesizer...and when you double click to open dst..then truesizer should start up.

Hope that helps

Hi Starwhizz777,

Thanks for your reply but I am aware of this suggesstion and is the first thing that I normally do but in this situation it didn't work. \

Subsequent to posting this problem I was able to resolve the issue by:

First  going to the compatibility  wizard and using Windows 95 as a prior last time usage and then the wizard opened up the program and reinstalled it.

Second:

It still didn't work directly but then I found a old file with a .emb extension and this file opened up fine with truesizer 7.0.  (Note that I always save my embroidery  files with .dst extensions.)  By doing this then the program showed up in the listings for "open with the following programs list  when clicking to open an existing .dst file.  Then I did do exactly as you suggested and now all the dst files open fine without first having to open the Truesizer 7.0 program.

Note that I used to get and still get the smart heap error message, but I have learned to live with it.

Thansk again for your reply.  Hope this helps others.

Harv
