| I am considering a wide screen monitor - 24 or 27 inch. Any recommendations, problems, brands, pros and cons? Should I look at dual monitors instead?
Thanks for any suggestions.

| Hello,
I am very happy with two 19" monitors not only when working with ES 2006 where I can move none-modal windows like object list, properties box etc. to my right (or left, depends on your dual monitor config). Also when working with more than one program it is very handy just to have both programs open and viewable at the same time. No window hopping.

hi Widescreen will probably be great ..
http://www.efectpro.com/pics1.htm I just have the 19'' Acer..u can see the screen layout with ES etc looks pretty good..any program with side docking looks great in widescreen.
If you can afford the extra power use/have the space etc..dual is pretty techno..My pal has that in his office..I like that too.. I loaded es there to see how I'd feel about dual. My personal opinion is - you might have a techno preference for that..but if you really digi a lot, the constancy of switching your vision across 2 monitors can become tedious. You will get accustomed to it..but your eyestrain factor will increase.
My reservations about getting a too big screen, and dual..as a digi are: 1- in relation to the distance away that you sit, its nice to give your eyes the least possible to absorb in direct vision... 2- Its less glare 3- You may not realise it..but over time, 1 & 2 are quite important factors.

I live in two monitors and could not imagine working any other way. I use a notebook hooked up to a second monitor so I can have emails open on one side, and my "work" on another. Or two docs loaded at once. You ask yourself do you really need more than one piece of work open at once? Well I ask you how many times you click on an application in your task bar and use the TAB-ALT function to click to another screen. For me it’s almost on a 1 minute basis, so two screens is critical.
I've also seen some awesome digitizing setup where all the toolbars of Wilcom ES are pulled over onto a second monitor creating a massive full-screen digitizing space on the primary screen.

Hi Brenden,
I have two monitors 1 ell 2208WFP (wide screen) 2:Cintiq 18SX (tablet screen), my question is there any way when I open ES can I make it open in the second monitor (Cintiq 18SX)? As of now the ES program always open to the 1st monitor but the menus always open where they were last placed.
Sample: When I open my CorelDRAW I have it open on my left monitor (Dell 2208WFP) and then when I edit bitmaps I have Corel Paint open on my Right monitor (Cintiq 18SX) so both programs are next to each other. As of now ES always open on the left so I have to keep dragging it to the right monitor so I can use my pen to digitize. |

hi Im not Brenden..but... As I understand it, the normal function is to have programs open from the primary monitor.
http://www.mediachance.com/free/multimon.htm Maybe the free software at the above link will allow you to do what you want to do.

Here is a little enhancement that some might like to try..Filebox Extender. You can easily uninstall or disable it at any time. Its actually quite handy if you get to try it. |

Hi,
No Nevi, you are not me. You are much smarter
Well this little one started a few discussions here! On my particular setup (Notebook primary, monitor secondary) it always starts on the primary monitor.
However, one of our analysts shows that for him it always starts on the monitor he initiates the application from. In other words, shortcut on primary monitor it starts on the primary monitor. Shortcut on secondary monitor it starts from the secondary.
Frankly, I don't know for sure
Sorry I can't be more certain! |

Hi,
I tried several combinations in terms of moving the short-cut for ES from secondary monitor, from where I start usually and ES opens on the primary monitor, to the primary. There is no change, ES still opens on the primary. I tested the same by interchanging the primary vs. the secondary monitor under properties and also here, it does not matter on which monitor the short cut is placed, ES opens on the primary monitor, Changed everything to the original settings and will go on moving ES from one to the other monitor if necessary. |
