Hello, I am new to wilcom, I have seen some programs, with a view of the actual hoop, you are going to use. I would like to know if there is a way to view a hoop in wilcom so I can get a true sense of scale while I am digitizing and editing text. One thought was to vector a hoop, and then import into wilcom, If anyone has done this already I would love a copy. Thank you for any help you can give. Joseph Fowler Fowler Imaging

I draw the hoops as vectors, one for each size of hoop required, then save each as a template (EMT). Works fine for me

Draw the hoop respectively the embroidery field of the hoop in graphics mode, save it e.g. as esp or daraw it in stand alone Corel draw.
Import the relevant hoop later either in embroidery mode or, if saved as Corel file in graphics mode when needed.

Hi basabi
Firstly, thanks for helping a newbie.

Secondly I'm still having problems with this. I've drawn the hoop in graphics mode, but when I try to save it I don't get the option to save it as an esp or any of the other file types that the embroidery mode can read. In fact the only file types i'm offered are embroidery ones, e.g EMB, XXX,DST.
Also when I go to File>Import in embroidery mode the only option I get is to import embroidery.
I've also tried opening corel draw on it's own and saving it that way, but still don't get the correct file options, not even jpg or bmp come up.
I've tried some of the other file types, but none of them seem to work, it either says that it can't recognise the file type, or just does nothing at all.
I'm using Wilcom es 1.5 if that helps?

Thanks again

Hi Kat,

when drawn in graphics mode go to file and hit export and select esp. Done so, your drawing is saved a vector format and you can either import it in graphics mode or when in embroidery mode you can import it by clicken Image( or is it picture?? I translate from the German SW) in Main embroidery tool bar, select import graphic, select the file type esp and browse to where you have saved the drawing, select the file and hit okay. If nothing appears, first hit 0 (zero) if that does not help hit Shift+D.

Hi all

Thank you all so much for helping, I've gone with Barbara's way for the time being, it all fell into place once the file typo was cleared up lol, so much appreciated.
I'm told there's another way of sizing where you can just hold the hoop up to the screen and see if the design fits, but mine won't work that way at the moment, the design always comes up bigger on screen than it is in real life.
Also thanks Greg K for the link to the training vid. Although that particular link was broken, you did point me towards a site that I'd not yet managed to find on my own, and there are LOTS of training vids there that I'll be watching soon

It shouldn't have to be this hard to have a visible hoop feature add into the Wilcom. Other software companies have already implemented this and it certainly helps me to get an instant visual feedback on the size of the file you you are working on. Wilcom seems to be too slow in adapting new useful features into their products while charging exhorbitant price.
