You may want to use caution when installing SP4 on network environment. I did the update 4 days ago, and my ES / DW has been giving me access violation errors, cannot find file errors, cannot record into database, cannot locate file libintf.dll - the errors keep coming. Prinitng is hit or miss on designs I've setup on my locale drive (will record in database once it is available). After 4 days I have no fix to get my system back online or an estimated timeframe for a fix; we've been unable to access files and create new designs in the meanwhile.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled 2 times, the admin program on the server, ES on a client PC, and DW on 2 other PC's and still have same issues with SP4 after all of that.

I don't know if it's a SP4 issue, or something else, but keep this in mind before trying the update.

I too am having problems with access violations errors but I can still use the program. It is frustrating to be in a design and have the progam have an error and everything shuts down!

Hi all,

At what point does the error occur? (Loading, printing, etc)

I have also had issues with ES shutting down with SP4 under Vista OS.  The software just shuts down without error or warning, it just disappears.  When I restart the software, it comes back displaying the recovered files that I happen to have open at that time with only the chages saved from the previous automatic save.  Very disturbing indeed.

Hi all,

A problem has been identified whereas the system throws an "Exception Access Violation" in Wilcom ES 2006 with Service Pack 4 installed when the user clicks the Print icon in the software.

This problem is related to a new third-party memory manager add-on included in Service Pack 4. The team are working to fix this problem!

So far it seems to be picky as to which PC the error occurs on or doesn't hence why some users are not getting the error. So it seem to be related to the PC's hardware...

Workaround: Use File > Print Preview first then Print instead of using the toolbar Print icon.

Brenden

I had to go back to SP3 because I've not received any advice from Global on running SP4 without crashing my network.  It's been 8 full days since this info was sent to the Global offices for review.  I also sent them my Windows System Report for the server and both workstations running ES / DW... I've not received a response on this problem yet.

SOME of the errors I starting getting after upgrading to SP4 are:

The ordinal 260 could not be located in the dynamic link library SHW32.DLL

Could not load “libintf.dll”

Couldn’t intialise communications with design editor (Access violation at address...)

Couldn't load the dll "libintf.dll"

Exception Access Violation...

es.exe has encounterd a problem and needs to close...

Couldn't find the procedure "InitializeLibIntf" in the dll "libintf.dll"
