I have the same problem.
I m using wilcom v2006 oz sp4 r220, pentium D cpu 3.00ghz 2.99 ghz, 1.49 gb ram
operating system microsoft windows xp (professional) version 2002 service pack 2

while working suddenly exception error occurs which makes wilcom close, and cannot start wilcom after that until I reboot the machine some times doesn't work without reinstalling software.
sometimes even it closes automatically without exception error which makes me loose all the changes made after last save

I tried reinstalling software, I tried reinstalling xp and then software but none of them works
In the meantime I contacted my dealer of wilcom who gave me steps to start wilcom without reinstalling the software but still lot of problems are there

pls any wilcom technician address me in this issue as I am really fed up of this access violation error
pls note there is no specific place or design that causes exception error it can happen anytime and in any design

I am having the same problem also....have cleaned out recover and backup folder 3 times today. I miss my old version 9 that never did this.

HI all,
For some reason your files have been corrupted. This is not peculiar to Wilcom software as a google search will show. Here is an article that explains two scenarios and two solutions to your problem.

Access violation
I hope this helps.

Interesting article about restoring Defaults.dfl John.

Actually, the defaults.dfl can potentially become corrupted (resulting in Exception Access Violations) if you remove your dongle while ES is running OR even shortly after closing ES (i.e. ES takes a while to fully shut down, so best to leave your dongle attached for a while after exiting ES).

But in the event that your defaults DOES get corrupted, there's a simpler way to cure corrupted defaults.dfl and recover files than diving into the folders as per the article.

Try this:
- exit ES
- wait 15 seconds or so
- run Purge Recovery (in Start->Programs->Wilcom ??->Wilcom ?? Tools)
- click OK
- run Revert
- ensure "Defaults" is ticked
- click OK

Thanks Delfius I have not tried this before - much simpler.
People using machine or stitch manager may have to be careful to copy machine connection settings.

Will the revert process lose machine connection?

Thanks John, but I have done step 2 you mentioned 2 times today already. I have sent my system file off to Wilcom America, hopefully they might be able to see a problem. I just find it hard to belive that the defaults file, or any other for that matter gets corrupted daily...sometimes 3 times in one day and that is "normal". I was running version 9 pretty much 24/7 only restarting computer every few days, and never had all this corrupt file stuff.

I am still using xp, sp 3, with updated windows, and video drivers, so maybe that is the real problem. Hopefully I will get a new computer in next couple of months with Win 7, and maybe that will solve my problems.

I guess there is a reason they droped the "we make you money" on the splash screen...hard to make money when program keeps crashing.
