I've been playing around and making several motifs which are working well. I've put the first and second refernce point generally at the start and end of the motif but I'm not really understanding what those reference points are. Are they the width/size of the finished motif?? The manual tells you to put them in put offers no explanation as to what they really are. I know several of you here are really experiened and I'm hoping some-one can give me an explanation as I really like to understand things rather than just 'do' them if possible. Thank you.

The reference points are the baseline and the beginning and ending points on the motifs in other words, these determine the default motif orientation in motif runs and fills. Reference points also determine the spacing between each motif.

It's would be the same if you created your own alphabets.

I will add a video of creating your own motif & lettering to my tutorials at

Thank you Greg for the explanation, I had guessed the spacing had something to do with it and I had made sure the line between the reference points was 180 degrees so they matched up properly at the end of one motif and the start of the second. I'm not too sure how the orientation works as sometimes I can't get the orientation and the start and finish points to marry up when I try to alter the angles. I'm also have trouble with the anticlockwise (think you call it counter clockwise in America???)setting of the object and line being needed to make the motif turn the other way - am I missing something here or is there an easier way of making them?? When will you have the video ready - not that I'm over eager, LOL, but I would like it today, please, LOL. I will buy it as soon as it is ready as I do like the idea of having them to refer to as and when you need them as it's so easy to forget what has been learned in an online lesson and once the lesson is over there is nothing to remind you. src=/DesktopModules/NTForums/images/emoticons/smile.gif>

when you said the 'anticlockwise/counter clockwise' Are you talking about the back stitch (Motif 2) on a fill? are you doing motif runs or motif fills?

I'll tell you what, I was going to do a different video Today but you talked me in to it, If you email me the some Motif/Shapes ideas that you would like I'll add them to the tutorials.

It's such a shame we don't have all those wonderful Hot Summer Deal here in the UK. I had to use the children's inheritance to buy my Wilcom software, LOL. The Wilcom people are really nice but the deals are not anywhere nearly as good as is in America and the prices here are much higher to begin with.
