Hello, today I was trying to make a quick snowflake - so far it's taken two hours, LOL. I have broken it down into two groups, a larger group that comprises of five straight columns with a loop at the base and a smaller two section piece. As I was digitising the larger group I joined each straight section with a running stitch so there would not be any jumps. I needed eight sections of each group so I used the array icon which seemed to work well until I tried the redraw and realised all the joining run stitches had been lost and so I had lots of connecting jumps. Has anyone any idea what I am doing incorrectly please, so that I lose my joining runs?

Hi Kiara,
I tried to create something like you described but am not sure, whether it is nearly what you are talking about LOL I have an Inpute-C object, a runstitch line following and another Input-C satin column. I grouped those 3 objects and tried with array, as well as with the wreath tool and it worked like expected. 8 groups following each other, nothing lost.
Can you upload the original group as well as an image of what you want to have?
Or feel free to send me an e-mail, I am curious, what the reason might be.

Hi Barbara, can't quite work out what I am doing wrong. I deleted the original file, stupidly really as I should have kept it just to see if I could work out what is happening. I've tried it several times now and sometimes it seems to be OK but not others. I think it has something to do with the wreath tool, seems to turn some objects around, objects six and eight are the worst offenders and I've had to re-do the running lines completely after they have been 'wreathed'. I was using my eye rather than making exact measurements so I am not sure if I've turned it somehow??? It's the first time I have used the array or wreath features and I'm still looking for things to try the kaleidoscope feature with, LOL. Now if only I could play all day for the next six months or so I might think I am beginning to know enough of this software to really get to where I would like to be and know that I am doing things incorrectly rather than it being the way the software works. Thank you for taking the time to reply and I'll let you know if I work out exactly what I am doing incorrectly.

HI Kiara,
If you can send an image of what you are trying to achieve I will produce a video for you to follow.

Perhaps if you set the start and finish points on the first object before using the array tool.

Regards

John

Hi John, thank you for your reply and offer to make a video. I have made my snowflake now and have put the run lines in. Can you help with this next problem though please? In the software I was using befor ES if I set the in and out points the travelling stitches would always be within the object, annoyingly sometimes but always within. I have just done the attached inside leg of a unicorn and have set the in and out points where I need them to join from the preceeding part and the next part but it starts in the correct place and then places a jump outside the object to the bottom. Is there a way to force the software to keep the travelling stitches inside objects??? Am I trying to control the software too much but I really don't want jump stitches.
