Hi all! Hope somebody could help me, I am new to wilcom but not digitizing, I can't figure out how to centre my design in Wilcom, does it automatically do it or is there a function to do it somewhere. Such a pain not being able to find this out! Thanks in advance, mcktj

Use "Auto Start and End" (I can't remember which menu its in Wilcom 9, I think "Stitch" or "Special" or something). This will generate start/end connectors to position your design in the middle of the hoop (and be configured to maintain automatically).

Hi Delfius

Thank you so much that is exactly right! I was having to import it to another program to centre the design which was gettting a bit annoying!

Many thanks! A thousand times!

I'm currently using auto start and end, but when I go back and edit a design, then send it through to my machine again, the design is off centre. It still looks centred on the screen, but when I trace using the machine it's way out. Is this something I'm doing wrong or should this not happen? Thanks Kat

Hi Kat,

If you edit a design by adding more volume to the design ie make it bigger the centre will automatically adjust to the new centre therefore be out of alignment with the orginal piece of digitizing that has been embroidered.

If you are using an industrial machine then you should be able to adjust the x y co-ordinates to line up the design, this will take a bit of practice to get it right tho.

Alternatively if you are adjusting a piece you might want to take off the auto centre as this will then leave the centre where it was.

Hope this helps

Kat, are you sure, that you also checked the checkbox "keep Automatically" in addition to "use start and end"??

Yep, just been and checked again to make sure. It's ok the first time I send it, but if I so much as edit the pull comp and send it back through it's off centre. I actually think it may be positioning itself where the first stitch is.

Hi Kat,

so then you could make it your habbit after finishing a deisgn and also later after editing it, leave the auto center values set as they are but highlight your whole design and type in 0/0 x/y in the properties bar (usually right bottom). This will position the middle of the design on 0/0 of the achses regardless the size of the whole design. Be sure, not to highlight any graphics larger than the max area of the mebroidery objects, this might interfere with the attempt keeping the same center

I think the problem may be bigger than I thought, I can't get anything to centre now, not even brand new designs. They all look fine on the screen, but go to start point when I send them through.

That sounds quite strange!
Would you mind sending me one of your designs just to check the settings? What machine are you working with?

don't forget! Some designs may look off-center using the auto start/end @ ctr; this happens when the 'visual center' is not the same as the actual center. Usually when 1 part of the design sticks way out. Then, use 'digitize start/end point' to put the center where you want it.

Morning all

Barbara I'll happily send you a design, where should I send it? At the moment I've only been using the lettering tool, so it's just wording.
ErixWorx, this it definatly not what's happening here, It's so off centre that If I started sewing with the needle in the centre of the hoop, it would crash before it got half way through the design.

Thanks to both for trying to help

Panic over, it's fixed!!!!
lol
I rang my engineer and apparently it was because I was sending the design through before I broke the machine drive and told it to expect a design. Basically I was doing it back to front. I have to go to the machine first, break the drive and tell it to pull the design through, THEN go and send it the design. The complete opposite to my old embroidery software. Hope this makes sence... A wierd solution to a weird problem lol.

Thanks so much to everyone once again for helping, I can only hope that in the future someone else may be able to solve the same problem without as much fuss, just by reading this.

Hi Kat,

I supposed a machine issue already and my intention was just to make sure, that all settings in the SW are ok to before I ask you to get help from your machine dealer/tech.

Good to know that other machines obviously need another treatment. I use Tajimas and Toyotas and send my deisgns directly out of the SW to the machines without aby action on the machine before (of course, the last design on the machine must be stitched up to the end respectively if not, has to be cancelled before)

Happy producing then

Barbara
