Here are the results of some R&D Motherboard Asus P5QLEM Processor Intel Core 2 Quad 8200 (4M Cache, 2.33 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB) Ram 4gb/833 mhz than 2gb/833 than 1gb/667 I started wilcom and than opened the design and than selected a color and gave the delete command. The command was executed in 1 minute. At this time the task manager was showing the cpu consumption at 25% only and 3.5 gb ram as available. Later i reduced the ram to 2 gb.I gave the same command. The command was executed in same time i.e. 1 minute . At this time also the task manager was showing the cpu consumption at 25% only and 1.5 gb ram as available. Later i reduced the ram to 1 gb.I gave the same command. The command was executed in same time i.e. 1 minute . At this time also the task manager was showing the cpu consumption at 25% only and 0.5 gb ram as available. My conclusions are 1. Multi core cpu is of no use (because i think wilcom doesn't support multicore cpus)but a cpu with higher no of ghz is more useful. 2. 1 gb ram is more than sufficient.Speed of Ram doesnt make the difference. Some confusions:- 1.What is the role of L1 & L2 cache. Will a processor with higher L1/L2 cache will be of use? 2.What is the role of FSB? 3.I dint give a try to any graphics card,Will that be useful? 4.If i will use a motherboard of intel, will that make any sense? 5.I also want to know that to support multi core cpus a software is to be written in that way from the beginning or some kind of settings need to be changed in some files of that software or something has to be done in the operating system. As far as i know any software deals with the operating system and operating system deals with the processor so if there is a workload on one core of the processor it must be in the hands of os to distribute the job to other cores.
