I am using a 20-Head Barudan Embroidery - Sequin machine. I, always, receive a Plotter i.e. print-out of Design from my customer along with the DST file in a CF card so that I can feed the design in Barudan from the CF Card and then "teach" the design as per the given Plotter.

However, when I view the DST file in Wilcom, it always shows me the Design in Default colors i.e. 15 or 20 Colors whereas the Plotter that I receive is normally 3 or 4 color. I have tried my level best to decrease the number of colors used in the design so that I can actually see the design on my Screen too but, so far, I have not been able to figure out how can I do it ?? This is to say that when I open the Colorways, I see Threads in Pallette as 15 or 20; I want this number to come down to 3 or 4 (whatever is the actual design) and then I can custom feed the colors in the design !!

I also opened the Color-Object List and tried to change the color from there but to no avail !!

In nutshell, I only want to use 3 or 4 colors in a design and then want to re-assign the Colors in the Color-Object List i.e. let's say, I want to give the "Red 3" color to the FIRST color and then want that after this color change, there should be "Blue 2" and so on !!!!!!

Can anybody help me in this regard ??

Zakir,

this behaviour you experience is due to the nature of the dst-format. DST can't hold colors. As soon as a colorchange is programed in dst, the file only "knows" stop and switch to the next default color (on screen) respectively switch to another needle (on the machine). I know, my explanation is not very technical, but I hope, you get what I want to explain.
For this reason, if your machine has a display, I doubt that you ever will be able to see right colors when a dst-file is feed into the machine.
Though in Wilcom ES you should be able, to assign your own colors. For example: Your design is opened in ES and has color 1-15. Add "your" colors to the color palette and then start from 1 to 15 and assign "your" colors, e.g. 16 is blue, 17 is red, 18 is yellow and 19 is green. OPen the object list and assign yellow to no.1, red to no. 2, yellow to no. 3, blue to no. r, red to no. 5 .......... whatever you like. Save the file as emb, otherwise the color assignment will be void.

You have another opition to assign colors when opening a dst. Go to open, check dst and on the right hand bottom click options, in the following window check "Custom" and define stop order (freely translated, my SW runs in German right now), another window opens and you have access to your thread charts as well. Now you can assign to every stop a color you like. Again, only emb will hold this information, dst can't hold it.
On your PC's monitor the correct colors should be displayed, as long as you saved to emb and open the emb-file.

More information you will find in Chapter 29 of the Owners (online)manual (Menue bar - Help)
